Different from the other recent dictatorships of the South Cone, the brasilitui military regime sought the active support of civil politicians, even creating a political party (ARENA/PDS) to sustain and to try legitimating the authoritarian system. The clearly conservative character of the brasilian transition to democracy resulted that many politicians from ARENA/PDS survived the transition, so that today they keep approximately 40% of the chairs in the National Congress. This communication of research, which presents data of a project in development, analyses the behavior of these former arenists in the Constitutional National Assembly. A preliminar analysis sugests that the politicians socialized under the military regime show wear faithfulness to the political institutions such as parties and the Parliament, thus implicating in the delay of the democratic consolidation process in the country.Em perspectiva comparada, o regime militar-autoritário brasileiro de 1964-1985 foi um caso Único. Diferentemente das outras ditaduras recentes no Cone Sul, o regime militar brasileiro procurou o apoio ativo de politicos civis, ate criando um partido politico (ARENA/PDS) para sustentar e tentar legitimar o sistema autoritário. O caráter notavelmente conservador da transivao brasileira 11 democracia fez com que muitos politicos da ARENA/PDS sobrevivessem à transicao, tanto que hoje detem aproximadamente 40% das cadeiras do Congresso Nacional. Esta comunicagito de pesquisa, que apresenta dados de um projeto em andamento, analisa o comportamento desses ex-arenistas na Assembléia Nacional Constituinte.
