Busca-se demonstrar como as opiniões publicadas neste jornal retomam os elementos que configuram a noção de "populismo", hegemônica até o final dos anos 1970, qual seja: a de um fenômeno que se caracteriza por uma política de massas, um estilo de governo que se assenta na manipulação e na tutela estatal dos trabalhadores e teria caracterizado a política brasileira entre os anos de 1930 e 1964.It investigates how the popular can be taken as a matrix of Lula's discourse and how editorialists and columnists of the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo reframe this discourse as "populist" in 2006 and 2010, at the presidential elections, and, thus, sustain his political positioning.
