Há uma luta multidisciplinar contra a desinformação, que compreende a capacitação das pessoas para avaliar as fake news recebidas, bem como ações destinadas a evitar a exposição dos indivíduos a elas. Nesse contexto, o desafio da regulação é combater a desinformação sem cercear a liberdade de expressão.The internet made it possible to disseminate false or inaccurate information with great potential to threaten democratic practices. There is a multidisciplinary effort underway to combat misinformation, which includes training people to evaluate the news they recieve, as well as actions targetted at avoiding individuals are exposed to them.
