A política da fé : comportamento eleitoral dos deputados estaduais evangélicos em São Paulo

Abstract

Compreende a relação entre religião e política no contexto subnacional brasileiro. Em específico, trabalha com os deputados estaduais evangélicos eleitos no estado de São Paulo entre 2002 e 2014. Busca responder à uma questão que envolve a dimensão eleitoral do fenômeno, centrada na geografia eleitoral do voto nesses candidatos. Busca responder se existiria um ou mais contextos que propiciariam a formação de um voto evangélico. A hipótese é de que contextos com menor escolaridade e renda e maior vulnerabilidade social estariam associados a maiores taxas de votação nesses candidatos. A partir de análises espaciais, mapeadas por município e por região administrativa no caso da capital paulista, georreferenciamento dos endereços da Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus e de estatística descritiva, conclui que existe uma característica principalmente urbana associada ao voto em candidatos evangélicos, além de uma resposta às relações de centro-periferia, na qual a teologia pentecostal teria encontrado terreno fértil para expansão.

It understands the relationship between religion and politics in the brazilian subnational context. Specifically, it works with state evangelical deputies elected in the state of São Paulo between 2002 and 2014. It soughts to answer an issue that involves the electoral dimension of the phenomenon, centered on the electoral geography of the vote in these candidates. It tries to answer if there were one or more contexts that would allow the formation of an evangelical vote. The hypothesis is that contexts with lower schooling and income and greater social vulnerability would be associated with higher voting rates in these candidates. Based on spatial analyzes, mapped by municipality and administrative region in the case of the city of São Paulo, georeferencing of the addresses of the Universal Church of God's Kingdom and of descriptive statistics, it concludes that there is a mainly urban characteristic associated with voting in evangelical candidates, also, it founds that there is a response to the center-periphery relations in which Pentecostal theology would have found fertile ground for expansion.
