Análise da construção da imagem do judiciário brasileiro na cobertura do mensalão pelo Jornal Nacional

Abstract

O caso do mensalão obteve grande destaque da mídia e se tornou agenda frequente dos principais veículos de comunicação no Brasil, principalmente na televisão. Entre eles, o Jornal Nacional, principal noticiário da Rede Globo em audiência. O JN acompanhou diretamente os trabalhos do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) - instituição responsável pelo julgamento dos réus - corroborando para que o processo ganhasse status de escândalo, e para o interesse do telespectador por essa agenda. Entretanto, por se tratar de uma instituição e de processo que envolve uma linguagem e um tipo de conhecimento muito específico, essa aproximação e interesse do público médio não seria comum. Assim, o principal objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar a construção da imagem do Judiciário Brasileiro a partir da cobertura do JN sobre o caso do mensalão.The case of mensalão obtained a great prominence of the media and became frequent agenda of the main communication vehicles in Brazil, mainly in the television. Among them, Jornal Nacional, main Globo news network in audience. The JN directly followed the work of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) - the institution responsible for the trial of the defendants - corroborating the process to gain scandal status, and for the viewers interest in this agenda. However, because it is an institution and a process that involves a very specific language and type of knowledge, this approximation and interest of the average public would not be common. Thus, the main objective of this research is to analyze the construction of the image of the Brazilian Judiciary from the coverage of the JN on the case of mensalão.
