Portanto, no Brasil, o voto é obrigatório,

As a political act, voting emerged in Brazil during the colonization period, in the year 1530. By way of illustration, the first election took place in 1532 for the formation of the Municipal Council of São Vicente. It is known that since then, over the years, voting has undergone numerous modifications, as it is through it that suffrage, the right to vote, is realized, granting power to voters. Such power, which initially lay in the hands of the military, farmers, and landowners of São Paulo and Minas Gerais (during the Coffee with Milk Politics era), also passed only to men (when women could not vote), to those considered wealthy (census voting), and today, voting is equal for all, without weighing any qualities that may consider it more than others. Therefore, in Brazil, voting is mandatory, with exceptions for certain age groups. Despite the mandatory nature of voting, currently, there are contradictions surrounding its practical applicability.
