A influência da liberdade econômica nos índices de aferição da qualidade das democracias

Abstract

Investiga, com base em índices estatísticos elaborados por organizações e institutos de pesquisa internacionais, a possível relação entre liberdade econômica e percepção da qualidade das democracias. Explora a conceituação teórica de liberdade econômica sob a ótica liberal clássica e os principais índices de aferição dessa liberdade em diferentes países. Em seguida, pondera as noções vinculadas à democracia e analisa os mecanismos produzidos por institutos e think tanks internacionais para a verificação da qualidade das democracias ao redor do mundo. Por fim, examina os elementos teóricos e estatísticos que confirmam a correlação entre o grau de liberdade e desenvolvimento econômico de uma sociedade e seu nível de liberdade política e desenvolvimento da democracia. Os métodos para a elaboração do estudo foram a pesquisa bibliográfica e a análise dedutiva de informações e dados estatísticos.It aims to investigate, on the basis on statistical indexes worked up by international research organizations, the likely relationship between economic freedom and the perception of the quality of democracies. It probes into the theoretical concept of economic freedom as conceived from a classical liberal perspective as well as the major measurement indexes of such freedom as applied in different countries. Furthermore, it ponders the various democracy-related notions and analyses the mechanisms used by international institutes and think tanks with a view to assess the quality of democracies the world over. Finally, it examines both the theoretical and statistical elements confirming the correlation between the degree of freedom and economic development of a society and its level of political freedom and development of democracy. In carrying out the present study use was made of bibliographic research and the deductive analysis of information and statistical data.
