O golpe militar de 1955 na Argentina pelas páginas do jornal "O Globo"

Abstract

Analisa a cobertura do jornal O Globo sobre os acontecimentos que levaram à deposição do Presidente argentino Juan Domingo Perón em setembro de 1955 e ao estabelecimento de uma ditadura militar naquele país. Através da análise das matérias publicadas acerca do tema buscou-se identificar no discurso político-midiático do jornal suas estratégias discursivas, a caracterização que este faz dos personagens envolvidos nos fatos narrados, as relações estabelecidas entre personalidades e processos da política argentina e os da política brasileira e identificar os imaginários sociais mobilizados e as ideologias difundidas por O Globo naquele contexto, averiguando sua contribuição à difusão de crenças e valores relativos à vida política e à legitimidade democrática entre nós. O estudo conclui que o jornal O Globo fez uso de sua cobertura sobre os fatos da política argentina para reforçar a associação da figura de Perón à de Getúlio Vargas, colocando ambos como uma ameaça à estabilidade democrática. No contexto brasileiro essa identificação visava desgastar os "herdeiros" de Vargas, ou seja, a chapa composta por Juscelino Kubistchek e, principalmente, João Goulart, que se apresentavam como candidatos à Presidência e Vice- Presidência da República, respectivamente, nas eleições que ocorreriam em outubro daquele mesmo ano.It analyzes the coverage of the O Globo newspaper about the events that led to the deposition of the Argentine President Juan Domingo Perón in September 1955 and the establishment of a military dictatorship in that country. By analyzing the published articles about the theme, it was sought to identify in the journal's political discourse its discursive strategies, its characterization of the characters involved in the narrated facts, the relations established between actors and processes of Argentine politics and the Brazilian ones and to identify the mobilized social imaginaries and the ideologies spread by O Globo in that context, ascertaining their contribution to the diffusion of beliefs and values related to political life and democratic legitimacy among us. The study concludes that the newspaper O Globo used its coverage on the facts of Argentine politics to reinforce the association of the figure of Perón to that of Getúlio Vargas, placing both as threats to democratic stability. In the Brazilian context, this identification was aimed at eroding Vargas' heirs, that is, the candidates for the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the Republic in October's elections, respectively, Juscelino Kubistchek and, especially, his running mate João Goulart.
