Elites locais, partidos municipais e lideranças oposicionistas na Primeira República : o caso do Estado do Paraná (1905-1915)

Abstract

Realiza uma investigação sobre a composição social e o desempenho eleitoral de três partidos municipais que existiram no Estado do Paraná de 1905 a 1915. O objetivo deste trabalho é avançar na compreensão acerca da organização interna e da ação eleitoral das agremiações que combateram os partidos situacionistas durante a Primeira República. Primeiro, é destacado que o surgimento de agremiações municipais no Paraná evidenciou as dificuldades de os líderes da oposição estadual controlarem a ação política dos oposicionistas residentes em cidades do interior. Segundo, ressalta-se que uma parcela dos integrantes dos partidos municipais era egressa da agremiação governista. As agremiações locais funcionaram como refúgios para indivíduos que posteriormente foram absorvidos pelo grupo situacionista. Terceiro, cabe salientar que a curta duração dos partidos municipais evidenciou o insucesso do projeto das elites locais de contrabalançarem a força eleitoral da agremiação majoritária.It analyzes the social composition and electoral performance of three municipal parties that existed in the State of Paraná from 1905 to 1915. The objective of this study is to advance the understanding of the internal organization and the electoral action of the parties that fought the dominant parties during the First Republic. First, the emergence of local parties evidenced the difficulties of the leaders of the state opposition to control the political action of the oppositionists residing in the municipalities of Paraná. Second, a portion of the members of the municipal parties came from the major party. The municipal parties served as shelters for politicians who later returned to the ruling group. Third, evidenced is show that the short-term of the municipal parties represented the failure of the project of the local elites to counterbalance the electoral strength of the ruling party.
