As eleições municipais no Nordeste : uma análise dos resultados eleitorais para as prefeituras (2000-2012)

Abstract

A fim de contribuir para o debate acerca das eleições municipais no Nordeste, o artigo busca sistematizar e descrever os resultados eleitorais das eleições de 2000, 2004, 2008 e 2012 no que concerne à disputa para o cargo de prefeito, nas cidades da região. De maneira mais específica, descreve a trajetória eleitoral dos partidos políticos nas eleições municipais do Nordeste. Metodologicamente, utilizamos a estatística descritiva para analisar, a partir do banco de dados do TSE, os resultados referentes às eleições municipais. O artigo está estruturado da seguinte forma: I) Introdução: contendo dados gerais sobre a região nordeste e uma breve revisão de literatura acerca dos estudos sobre eleições municipais gerais e no Nordeste; II) Resultados: apresentação dos resultados gerais das eleições para prefeito no 1º e 2º turnos e nas capitais; III) Teste de hipótese: na qual discutiremos nossas hipóteses para a política local; IV) conclusões.In order to contribute to the debate about municipal elections in the Northeast, this article aims to organize and describe the electoral results of the local elections held in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. We focus on the electoral paths taken by the parties in the region. In order to do that, we use descriptive statistics to analyze, using the TSE database, the results about the elections for mayors. This article is structured as follows: I) Introduction: presenting general information about the region and a short review of the literature regarding local elections in Brazil; II) Results: presenting the results from both the first and the second rounds of the local election in the region; III) Testing the hypothesis: in which we show that the party of the State governor performs better in the local elections; IV) Conclusion.
