Fact-checking como possibilidade de media accountability sobre o discurso político? Uma análise de conteúdo das iniciativas Aos Fatos, Lupa e Truco

Abstract

Investiga a experiência de fiscalização do discurso político dos projetos de checagens Aos Fatos, Lupa e Truco. O estudo se debruça sobre os limites e os potenciais dos factchecking em desencadear a responsabilização de agentes públicos e suplementar a oferta de argumentos para cidadãos engajados no debate político. A análise mostrou que a ação de etiquetar não foi seguida à risca e a predominância de temas nacionais. Apesar de considerar que fiscalizar discursos errôneos tem o potencial de criar novas notícias e fatos políticos, funcionando como mais um controle externo, a busca por precisão e o confronto contínuo de políticos podem ter efeitos nocivos como amplificar processos de despolitização.It investigates the supervisory experience of political discourse promoted by factchecking projects Aos Fatos, Lupa and Truco. The study focuses on the limits and potentials of this new media genre in triggering the accountability of public agents and supplementing the offer of arguments for citizens engaged in political debate. The analysis showed that labeling was not followed exactly and the predominance of national politics. While considering that scrutinizing misconceptions has the potential to create further political news and facts, acting as yet another external control, the pursuit of precision in politics and the ongoing confrontation of politicians can have detrimental effects such as amplifying processes of depoliticization.
