Notas sobre a República, oligarquias e utopias

Abstract

Analisa as razões da oligarquização do sistema político criado pelo movimento republicano no fim do século XIX. Explicações tradicionais sobre o período são criticadas por darem pouca atenção aos diferentes projetos políticos em luta. O pacto coronelista de Campos Sales é explicado à luz dos problemas políticos que tentou resolver. Busca-se relacionar o sistema oligárquico com o processo de formação do Estado nacional.It analyzes the reasons for the oligarchization within the political system created by the republican movement in the late nineteenth century. Traditional explanations of the period are contradicted, because they don t consider the different political projects that are in struggle at the time. The coronelistic pact from Campos Sales is explained in the light of the political problems that it tried to solve. The author intends to relate the oligarchic system to the national state formation process.
