About twelve years ago, Rubim and Azevedo identified the lack of dialogue between Brazilian communication researchers and political scientists as the primary cause for the deadlock in the development of studies about political behavior and media in Brazil. In this article, I argue that one of the solutions of this problem lies in the way that the political behavior theories discuss, or allow to discuss, of the role of media in voting. On one hand, taking this theoretical perspective into account one of the most traditional fields of research in Political Science would allow communication researchers a more accurate interpretation of the role of media in elections. On the other hand, the incorporation of the media as an important variable for the analysis of voting, done by political scientists, would give the most important provider of information in the contemporary political scene its real relevance.
