Democracia, estado brasileiro e mídia

Abstract

Considerando os estudos de teoria política voltados para a preparação acadêmica de futuros jornalistas e de outros profissionais da área de ciências sociais e tendo em vista a importância do debate acadêmico para a compreensão da sociedade, o presente estudo faz uma abordagem sobre a questão democrática a partir de algumas notícias e acontecimentos trazidos pela imprensa. Num primeiro momento o texto tece considerações sobre a origem da democracia atual e, ao menos em termos teóricos, algumas de suas características. Em seguida aponta determinados momentos da história do Brasil, procurando demonstrar neles problemas que dificultam ou impedem o fazer democrático. Ao final retoma o eixo de análise sobre a importância do debate democrático, a começar pela universidade, cujo papel é, além de formação dos acadêmicos, também o pensar a sociedade em que estão inseridos.Considering the studies in political theory, directed to the academic preparation of future journalists and other professionals of the social sciences, and having in mind the importance of academic debates to the comprehension of society, the present study approaches the question of democracy from some news and events raised by the press. On a first moment the text make some considerations about the origin of recent democracy and, at least in theoretical terms, some of its characteristics. Right after, points out determined moments of the brazilian history, trying to demonstrate in them problems that make difficult or obstruct the "making of democracy". At the end, retakes the focal point of the analysis about the importance of democratic debate, starting by the university, which role is, beyond the formation of academics, also thinking society in which they are inserted.
