São Paulo 92, a vitória da direita

Abstract

Analisando os resultados da eleição para a prefeitura da cidade de São Paulo em 1992 e comparando-os com os das eleições anteriores, os autores observam que a expansão do voto malufista e a viabilidade eleitoral do PT têm modificado o perfil do eleitorado de direita na capital em relação ao padrão verificado ao longo da década de 80. As maiores taxas de voto malufista se encontram hoje nos bairros mais ricos de São Paulo, o que relembra a curva devotação da Arena nos anos 70.In analyzing the results of the mayoral election in the city of São Paulo for 1992 and comparing them to previous elections, the authors note that the expansion of both the pro-Maluf vote and the electoral feasibility of the PT (Workers' Party) have changed the profile of the right wing electorate in this city, in relation to the patterns observed throughout the 1980s. The greatest concentrations of pro-Maluf votes today are to be found in São Paulo's wealthiest neighborhoods, which is remindful of the pro-Arena voting curve during the 1970s.
