Gênero e política : conquista e repercussão do voto feminino no Maranhão (1900-1934).

Abstract

Analisa a conquista do voto feminino no Maranhão, bem como a participação das maranhenses, como eleitoras e candidatas, nas eleições de 1933 e 1934. Destaca-se o processo de luta pelo sufrágio feminino no Rio de Janeiro, capital do país e centro do movimento sufragista brasileiro, enfatizando a participação das organizações feministas. No Maranhão, analisa-se a participação da sociedade na conquista do sufrágio feminino e a forma como as maranhenses acompanharam o processo de luta que ocorria com mais intensidade em outras regiões do país. Através de pesquisa nos jornais maranhenses, debate-se a participação das maranhenses que não estiveram omissas na luta vitoriosa pelo sufrágio feminino em 1932.

It analyzes the conquest of the feminine vote in the Maranhão, as well as the participation of the maranhenses, as voters and candidates, in the elections of 1933 and 1934. It is distinguished the process of fight for the feminine suffrage in Rio de Janeiro, capital of the country and center of the brazilian sufragista movement, emphasizing the participation of the organizations feminists. In the Maranhão we will analyze the participation of the society in the conquest of the feminine suffrage and the form as the maranhenses had folloied the fight process that occurred with more intensity in other regions of the country. Through research in maranhenses periodicals we will debate the participation of the maranhenses that had not been omissive in the victorious fight for the feminine suffrage in 1932.
