Eleições municipais em Porto Alegre : quem disse ter intenção de votar no candidato a prefeito do PT? (1996-2000-2004)

Abstract

Busca encontrar o perfil do eleitorado que teve intenção de votar no candidato a prefeito do Partido dos Trabalhadores, nas Eleições Municipais de 1996, 2000 e 2004, em Porto Alegre. Para isso delineia suas características, quanto ao sexo, a idade, a escolaridade e a renda. Além disso, o estudo procura testar a validade do eleitorado petista típico, traçado por César (1995), em nível nacional. Com essa finalidade, utiliza pesquisas de intenção de voto cedidas pelo CESOP, e para enriquecer a abordagem, faz uso da geografia eleitoral. O eleitorado petista de Porto Alegre é analisado internamente; comparado com os demais partidos a cada ano eleitoral, bem como, com a média do eleitorado porto-alegrense. Nota-se ao longo das três eleições analisadas, a "feminilização", o envelhecimento do eleitorado do PT, assim como seu empobrecimento, e diminuição no grau de escolarização, e conseqüentemente, uma descaracterização do eleitorado petista típico, encontrado por César, em 1982, no Brasil. A partir da geografia eleitoral, notamos que o Partido dos Trabalhadores decresce significativamente nos bairros porto-alegrenses com alto e médio índice de desenvolvimento.It tries to define the profile of the electorate who intended to vote for the Workers' Party's mayor candidate, in the Municipal Elections of 1996, 2000 and 2004, in Porto Alegre. For that, this work outlines voters according to their gender, age, schooling and income. Besides, the study tries to test the validity of the 'Workers' Party typical electorate', described by Caesar (1995), in a national level. It is used the intention of vote inquiries given by the CESOP, and to enrich the approach the study uses the electoral geography. The orkers' Party electorate of Porto Alegre is analysed internally; comparing with the others political parties in each electoral year, as well as, with the average of the electorate from Porto Alegre. It is noticed along three analysed elections, the "feminilização" and the aging of PT electorate, as well as their impoverishment, and reduction in their education level, and consequently, a tendency of characteristics changing of the typical Workers' Party electorate, found by Caesar, in 1982, in Brazil. From the electoral geography, we notice, that the Workers' Party decreases significantly in the districts with high and medium developmental rate, in Porto Alegre.
