Mesários e os estímulos ao voluntariado

Abstract

Os mesários são importantes figuras da democracia brasileira, possuindo garantias e deveres bem definidos na legislação vigente. O presente trabalho visa demonstrar a importância da participação dos eleitores no cargo, abordando diversos aspectos relacionados ao tema. Assim, será apresentada a história dos mesários em paralelo com a do voto no Brasil, bem como as legislações pertinentes, que garantem a legitimidade das ações. Por fim, serão expostas as dificuldades que a Justiça Eleitoral vem enfrentando com o grande número de requerimentos de dispensa de eleitores convocados e a pouca quantidade de mesários voluntários. Assim, abordar-se-á o que tem sido feito para estimular o voluntariado, tanto por parte dessa justiça especializada quanto por parte dos demais entes federativos.

The poll workers are essential figures in Brazilian democracy, with rights and duties clearly defined by current legislation. This paper aims to demonstrate the importance of citizen participation in these roles, addressing their various aspects. It presents the history of poll workers in parallel with the history of voting in Brazil, as well as the relevant legislation that ensures the legitimacy of their actions. Finally, it discusses the difficulties faced by the Electoral Justice due to the high number of excuse requests from summoned voters and the shortage of volunteers. In this context, the study analyzes the measures taken to encourage volunteerism, both by this specialized branch of the judiciary and by other federative entities.
