Resumo
Robert Michels e Joseph Schumpeter são dois autores que, juntamente com um rol de outros autores, fazem parte de um campo teórico comumente chamado de "teorias elitistas", "teoria da elite" ou "maquiavélicos". Este trabalho teve por objetivo fazer uma análise e comparação explícita das obras "Sociologia dos partidos políticos" e "Capitalismo, socialismo e democracia", de Robert Michels e Joseph Schumpeter, respectivamente. Para cumprir esse objetivo, foi feita uma
análise sistemática ponto a ponto dessas obras e, posteriormente, tentase especificar precisamente as diferenças e similitudes entre elas. Conclui-se que as teorias desses autores são relevantes até os dias atuais para compreender, em diversos contextos, certos aspectos do funcionamento da democracia liberal representativa e da organização dos partidos políticos.
Robert Michels and Joseph Schumpeter are two authors who, along with a list of other authors, are part of a theoretical field commonly called "elitist theories", "theory of the elite" or "machiavellians". This paper aimed to make an explicit analysis and comparison of the works "Sociology of political parties" and "Capitalism, socialism and democracy", by Robert Michels and Joseph Schumpeter, respectively. In order to fulfill this objective, a systematic analysis point-to-point of these works was made and, subsequently, an attempt is made to specifying precisely the differences and similarities between them. It is concluded that the theories of these authors are relevant until the present day to understand, in several contexts, certain aspects of the functioning of representative liberal democracy and the organization of political parties.
