Guerra eleitoral, fake news e a tentativa de regulamentar o uso da internet

Abstract

A internet possibilitou a disseminação de informações falsas, com grande potencial de comprometimento da democracia. Há uma luta multidisciplinar contra a desinformação, que compreende a capacitação das pessoas para avaliar as fake news recebidas, bem como ações destinadas a evitar a exposição dos indivíduos a elas. Nesse contexto, o desafio da regulação é combater a desinformação sem cercear a liberdade de expressão.

The internet made it possible to disseminate false or inaccurate information with great potential to threaten democratic practices. There is a multidisciplinary effort underway to combat misinformation, which includes training people to evaluate the news they recieve, as well as actions targetted at avoiding individuals are exposed to them. In such context, the challenge is fighting desinformation without imposing fight against disinformation, which includes training people to evaluate the fake news they receive, as well as actions targeted at preventing individuals from being exposed to them. In this context, the challenge of regulation is fighting disinformation without imposing restrictions to the freedom of expression.
