Democracia, pessoa idosa e idadismo no Brasil : relações com o Direito Eleitoral

Abstract

Aborda o tratamento da pessoa idosa pelo Direito Eleitoral, especificamente quanto aos parâmetros etários para a obrigatoriedade do exercício do voto ao longo da história eleitoral. Em complemento, faz-se análise da transição demográfica e das projeções populacionais futuras em relação à importância concedida às pessoas idosas pela Constituição Federal de 1988, bem como discute sobre o papel da Justiça Eleitoral diante do idadismo, pela ameaça que representa à participação política do idoso.It aims to address the treatment of elderly people by Electoral Law, specifically regarding the age parameters for the mandatory exercise of voting throughout electoral history. In addition, an analysis of the demographic transition and future population projections was carried out about the importance granted to elderly people by the 1988 Federal Constitution, as well as a discussion of the role of the Electoral Court in the face of ageism, due to the threat it represents to the political participation of the elderly.
