Uso das redes sociais, valores democráticos e confiança institucional no Brasil

Abstract

Busca verificar os possíveis impactos da participação nas redes sociais da internet sobre os valores democráticos dos brasileiros, e da confiança e desconfiança destes para com as instituições políticas do País. Para isso, foi examinada a fonte de informação política preferencial dos indivíduos, para averiguar a existência (ou não) de diferenças entre aqueles que se informam por meio das redes sociais em comparação com aqueles que preferem se informar por outros meios. Os dados utilizados neste artigo são fornecidos pelo Estudo Eleitoral Brasileiro (ESEB) de 2018. A partir dos resultados encontrados, não foi possível estabelecer uma relação clara entre o uso das redes sociais como fonte prioritária de informação e a desconfiança nas instituições políticas, bem como no que diz respeito ao apoio normativo ao regime e a valores mais ou menos autoritários.

It seeks to verify possible impacts caused by participation in Internet's social networks on Brazilian democratic values, as well as the level of trust and distrust of these values towards political institutions in the country. In this regard, we used the preferential source of political information of individuals, to investigate the existence (or not) of differences between those who get their information through social media compared with those who prefer other means to inform themselves. The data used in this article are provided by the Brazilian Electoral Study (ESEB) from 2018. From the results yielded, it was not possible to establish a clear relationship between the use of social networks as primary source of information and the lack of trust in political institutions, as well as when it comes to regulatory support to the system and values more or less authoritarian.
