Eleições para governador do Paraná em 1950

Abstract

Apresenta uma abordagem analítica e histórico-geográfica das eleições para governador em 1950 no Paraná, bem como delinear o contexto político, econômico e social do período, no sentido de fundamentar as leituras cartográficas (mapas) em diferentes aspectos temáticos (votações por município, no conjunto do estado e regionalizadas). Naquele ano ocorreram as primeiras eleições sob influência da Guerra Fria e com modelos de desenvolvimento opostos no pleito nacional, com a tradicional oposição entre UDN e PTB. No Paraná, houve três candidatos a governador: Carlos Amoreti Osório (PSB), Ângelo Ferrario Lopes (PSD) e Bento Munhoz da Rocha Neto, pela coligação Frente Democrática (PL/PR/PST/PRP/UDN). De fato, essa eleição mostrou uma polarização entre estes dois últimos candidatos, sendo Bento Munhoz o vencedor em uma conjuntura singular - a UDN aliou-se informalmente ao PTB para elegê-lo.

It presents an analytical and historical-geographic approach to the elections for governor in 1950 Paraná, outlining the political, economic and social context of the period to ground cartographic readings (mappings) in different thematic aspects (votes by municipality, statewide and frontiers). That year, the first elections took place under the aegis of the Cold War and with opposite development models to that of the national election, with the traditional opposition between UDN and PTB. In Paraná, there were three candidates for governor: Carlos Amoreti Osório (PSB), Ângelo Ferrario Lopes (PSD) and Bento Munhoz da Rocha Neto, for the coalition Frente Democrática [Democratic Front] (PL/PR/PST/PRP/UDN). In fact, this election showed a polarization between these last two candidates, with Bento Munhoz being the winner in a unique situation - the UDN informally allied with the PTB to elect him.
