Democratização em perspectiva global

Abstract

Analisa o processo de democratização nas sociedades industriais e identifica aspectos da estabilidade democrática. Argumenta que a mobilização cognitiva, assim como fatores culturais são cruciais à democracia estável, e que a presença de valores pós-materialistas, bem-estar subjetivo e confiança são fortemente associados a ela. O vínculo entre desenvolvimento econômico e democracia estável existe porque o primeiro leva à cultura política pró-democrática.It analyzes the process of democratization in industrial societies and it indentifyes aspects of democratic stability. It argues that the cognitive mobilization and cultural factors are crucial to stable democracy, and that the presence of post-materialist values, subjective weel-being and trust are strongly associated to it. The link between stable democracy and economic development exists because the first leads to a pro-democratic political culture.
