O Rio Grande do Sul dividido : conflitos político-eleitorais entre pessedistas e petebistas para o governo estadual (1946-1954)

Abstract

Analisa a disputa eleitoral entre o Partido Social Democrático (PSD) e o Partido Trabalhista Brasileiro (PTB) nas eleições de 1947, 1950 e 1954 para governador do Rio Grande do Sul. Para tanto, utiliza-se de elementos da teoria do campo político, desenvolvida pelo sociólogo francês Pierre Bourdieu, como instrumento de pensamento para a compreensão dos conflitos nas campanhas eleitorais. Os pessedistas e trabalhistas produziram narrativas - ideias-força - que foram divulgadas - por meio de matérias pagas - na imprensa escrita, cujo objetivo consistia na construção de representações sobre a realidade do Rio Grande do Sul, seus problemas e suas formas de solução, assim como de encaminhamentos. Desse modo, o fio condutor da tese é a lógica relacional conflitiva, ou seja, o jogo das oposições e distinções entre os partidos e candidatos. Acredita-se que uma análise mais focada nos conflitos eleitorais possa contribuir e ampliar o entendimento sobre a dinâmica política deste período. As fontes utilizadas no trabalho foram os jornais Correio do Povo e Diário de Notícias, assim como os Anais da Assembleia Legislativa sul-rio-grandense.It analyzes the electoral dispute between the Partido Social Democrático (PSD) and Partido Trabalhista Brasileiro (PTB) in the 1947, 1950 and 1954 elections for governor of Rio Grande do Sul. Therefore, it was used elements of the political field theory, developed by French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, as an instrument of thought for the understanding of conflicts in election campaigns. The pessedistas and trabalhistas produced narratives - force-ideas - that were disclosed - by means of paid materials - in written press, whose objective consisted in the construction of representations about the reality of Rio Grande do Sul, its problems and ways of solution, as well as referrals. Thus, the guiding thread of the thesis is the conflicting relational logic, in other words, the game of oppositions and distinctions between parties and candidates. It is believed that a more focused analysis of electoral conflicts can contribute and increase the understanding about the political dynamics of this period. The sources used in this work were the Correio do Povo and Diário de Notícias newspapers, as well as in the annals of sul-rio-grandense Legislative Assembly.
