"Você confia nas urnas eletrônicas?" : desinformação eleitoral como instrumento de cooptação para-institucional

Abstract

Embora tenha vencido as eleições de 2018, o Presidente Jair Bolsonaro questionou a confiabilidade das urnas eletrônicas durante todo o seu mandato. Com objetivo de observar potenciais relações entre a desinformação e as narrativas autocráticas, este artigo se propõe a investigar o caso brasileiro de críticas contra o processo eleitoral e as urnas eletrônicas. Foram analisadas as menções às urnas eletrônicas em publicações e discursos do presidente entre 2019 e 2022 e as comparamos com as principais notícias falsas sobre as urnas que foram difundidas no período. A partir de bases de dados contendo, de um lado, tuítes, discursos, entrevistas e lives do presidente e, de outro, notícias falsas sobre as urnas, identificamos 183 críticas de Bolsonaro às urnas e 270 notícias falsas sobre as urnas. Com tratamentos e análise qualitativa sobre a íntegra dos conteúdos, os dois conjuntos, o de manifestações do presidente e o de notícias falsas sobre as urnas, apresentaram grande semelhança.Although he won the 2018 elections, President Jair Bolsonaro questioned the reliability of electronic voting machines throughout his entire term. Aiming to explore potential connections between disinformation and autocratic narratives, this article sought to investigate the Brazilian case of criticism against the electoral process and electronic voting machines. Mentions of electronic voting machines in the president's publications and speeches between 2019 and 2022 were analyzed and compared with the main false news about the machines that circulated during this period. Using databases that contained, on one hand, tweets, speeches, interviews, and live broadcasts by the president, and on the other, false news about the voting machines, we identified 183 criticisms by Bolsonaro towards the voting machines and 270 false news items about them. Through qualitative analysis of the full content, both datasets, the president's statements and the false news about the voting machines, showed significant similarity.
