Breve ensaio sobre a democracia

Abstract

Apresenta uma breve visita à noção de democracia representativa, seu surgimento e sua técnica eletiva, a crise em sua representatividade e o consequente crescimento da democracia participativa, tendo como ponto de partida a democracia direta da Grécia Antiga, que ainda atrai a admiração, em especial, pelo alto espírito cívico que movia os cidadãos atenienses. A abordagem visita também as correntes sociológicas e políticas que expressam o declínio da democracia na atualidade e as que, rejeitando-as, acreditam em sua perene metamorfose, por compor a evolução histórica da humanidade. Estas últimas mais se compaginam com as transformações sociais e políticas que consagraram, no último século, a hegemonia do sistema democrático no Globo.

It presents a brief view of the representative democracy notion, its appearance and its elective technique, the crisis in its representation and the consequent growth of participatory democracy, taking as its starting point the direct democracy of ancient Greece, which still attracts admiration, especially the high civic spirit that mobilized Athenian citizens. The following study also deals with the sociological and political theories which express the decline of democracy today and the ones that by rejecting them also believe in their perennial metamorphosis, because they compose the historical evolution of humanity. These last ones are in harmony with the social and political transformations that consecrated the hegemony of the world democratic system in the last century.
