Abstract

Revisita o histórico de fraudes eleitorais em eleições brasileiras, com foco especial no período republicano (1889-atualidade). Com isso, pretende-se analisar a evolução do processo eleitoral brasileiro na busca pela concretização de um regime verdadeiramente democrático, de respeito aos direitos básicos do eleitor. Tal análise envolve, necessariamente, discussões acerca do sistema eletrônico de votação adotado no Brasil e sua eficácia no combate às fraudes. Conclui-se, ao final, que a adoção de um sistema eletrônico de votação trouxe inúmeros benefícios às eleições brasileiras, com destaque para: celeridade, segurança e confiabilidade nos resultados.It revisits the history of electoral fraud in brazilian elections, with special focus on the Republican Period (1889-present). With this we intend to analyze the evolution of the brazilian electoral process in the pursuit of achieving a truly democratic regime to respect the basic rights of the voter. Such analysis necessarily involves discussions about the electronic voting system adopted in Brazil and its effectiveness in combating fraud. It was concluded in the end that the adoption of an electronic voting system has brought numerous benefits to the brazilian elections of which can be highlighted: speed, security and reliability in the results.
