Abstract

O direito ao sufrágio é uma conquista que começou a ser construída no século XIX na França e foi consolidada nos séculos seguintes. No século XXI, entretanto, o simples reconhecimento in abstrato do direito de participação política passou a ser insuficiente, exigindo-se atos concretos que garantissem tal direito. Nesse contexto, emerge o princípio da máxima acessibilidade do sufrágio que se destina, a um só tempo, a aproximar a Justiça Eleitoral dos eleitores eliminando barreiras espaciais que dificultem o exercício do direito de sufrágio e, ao mesmo tempo, auxiliar eleitores que possuam limitações físicas a usufruir da plenitude do seu direito de participação.The right to suffrage is an achievement that began to be built in the nineteenth century in France and was consolidated in the following centuries. In the 21st century, however, the mere in abstrato recognition of the right to political participation became insufficient, requiring concrete acts to guarantee such a right. In this context, the principle of maximum accessibility of suffrage emerges, which is intended, at the same time, to bring electoral justice closer to voters by eliminating spatial barriers that hinder the exercise of the right to vote and, at the same time, to assist voters who have physical limitations to enjoy the fullness of their right to participate.
