Presidencias vitalicias para el socialismo del siglo XXI : los "presidentes-reyes" regresan a iberoamérica

Abstract

En 1992, después de la aprobación de la Constitución de Paraguay, la mayoría de los países de Iberoamérica prohibía la reelección del presidente o la limitaba. A partir de entonces, la reelección presidencial se ha ido imponiendo. Los presidentes con respeto a la institucionalidad se conforman con un mandato consecutivo, pero las figuras del socialismo del siglo XXI pretenden incluso la reelección ilimitada. Este texto repasa las diferentes realidades que, con respecto a la reelección o no del presidente, se dan hoy en las repúblicas iberoamericanas.

In 1992, after the adoption of the Constitution of Paraguay, most Latin American countries banned the reelection of President or limited it to one term. Since then, the president's reelection has been imposed again. The presidents with respect to the institutions of their countries conform themselves only a consecutive term, but the leaders of socialism of the XXI century even seek reelection indefinitely. This article reviews the different realities that, with respect to the president's re-election or not, there are today in the Latin American republics.
