A imagem de Cristo nos parlamentos

Abstract

Descreve e analisa a campanha pela colocação da imagem do Cristo crucificado em casas legislativas empreendida por um partido político de orientação nacionalista e católica conservadora na década de 1940. Além disso, busca retratar a tradicional cerimônia de entronização da imagem do Cristo crucificado em recintos estatais. Esta cerimônia deita suas raízes no período colonial e imperial. Procura, ainda, ressaltar as constantes interações entre o religioso e o secular, e, desse modo, problematizo a noção de que esses são campos plenamente autônomos e diferenciados. A dimensão religiosa e a dimensão cívica apresentam-se constantemente imbricadas nas situações que serão examinadas neste texto.It describes and analyzes the campaign for allowing crucifixes to be hung on the walls of legislative chambers, proposed by a political party with nationalistic and conservative Catholic views in the 1940s. In addition, seek to portray the traditional ceremony of enthronement of the figure of crucified Jesus in State house chambers. This ceremony dates back to the colonial and imperial times.Also try to highlight the constant interactions between religion and secularism and, by doing that, assume that they are totally independent and distinct fields. Both the religious and civic dimensions are constantly implicated in the situations examined in the text.
